Payment Protection Insurance Needs Sorting Out

Reclaim Bank Charges

The market for PPI, (payment protection insurance) needs a good shaking, as consumers suffer, due to a lack of provider competition, and a lack of apparent alternatives. This is the opinion of the competition watchdog.

Retail payment protection, is a small part of the PPI sector as a whole, and it is the part that deals with the cover of bills from buying home catalogue items.

It is needed here, improvement, as it is needed in the PPI market as a whole. The Competition Commission admits that it needs to correlate information specific to retail PPI, before it can start making suggestions.

The amount of money that distributors make, by selling retail PPI, is obscene, so the distributors would prefer that the Competition Commission keep their nose out. They enjoy the lack of transparency that makes them so much money, and they like the fact that consumers are treated to a taste of the exorbitant.

The Competition Commission plan to make it easier for customers to compare retail PPI with non affiliated companies, so that they do not have to pay as much. Ideally, merchandise cover would become a form of protection that would become entirely separate from PPI.

Some findings should be published by the end of October.

73million was made in the retail sector, by selling retail PPI.
